Hand Truck Wheels
Wheels are the one part on your hand truck that suffer the most wear and tear.
Under heavy or commercial use, hand truck tires will need to be replaced. The manufacturer's
specifications will have a recommendation as to when these crucial parts, and others, need to be replaced. It is
always best to stay with the original equipment manufacturer's replacement parts. At the very least, if you are
buying parts not made by the original manufacturer, you should make sure that the part you are buying is the same
size and has the same weight and capacity ratings.
In addition to collapsible hand truck wheels, it may be necessary to replace hand
cart wheels depending on use. These wheels are mostly solid, caster type wheels. Casters come in several
different varieties with the most common characteristics being that they are solid (not pneumatic) and they
swivel. Some have a plain bore while others are made with ball bearings to enable better spin. The mounting
hardware of casters is usually made of steel or aluminum but the wheels themselves are available in several
different materials. You can find rubber, polyurethane, rubber on aluminum and rubber or nylon over fiberglass.
When it comes time to replace casters, look for replacements with similar materials and with equal
capacities.
Magliner 10 inch Pneumatic Wheel
Commercial grade Magliner products will perform better with Magliner replacement hand truck wheels
which are made in the U.S.A. The 4-ply pneumatic tire provides excellent shock absorption and a cushioned ride
great for any surface rough or smooth. Sealed bearings and corrosion resistant hub offer long lasting service. The
10 inch wheel can have up to a 350 lb. capacity per wheel which is, of course, limited by the overall rating of the
hand truck.
Wesco Balloon Cushion Wheel
The balloon cushion wheel is made of solid rubber. It is very durable and the rounded tread surface
offers a smooth ride and easier turning on flat surfaces. One of the best features of this wheel is that it will
flatten slightly to accommodate heavy items and return to its original shape after unloading. It has a low friction
polyolefin hub and has a maximum load capacity of 500 lbs.
RWM 10 inch Pneumatic Hand Truck Wheel
This is the wheel if the majority of your work is on rough, uneven surfaces or outdoors. Full
pneumatic wheels move freely over obstructions and RWM wheels have one of the most rugged treads available. These wheels
provide smooth, shock-resistant moving that's well suited for breakable items. These wheels also work great in
heavy indoor use such as in warehouses.
